Belding High School

Belding Area Schools proudly promotes the slogan “The Right Size. The Right Choice.” Based on our academics, extracurricular, and community partnerships, the slogan fits Belding High School perfectly.

With approximately 600 students we are the right size because we are large enough to offer a full array of academic and extracurricular choices. For example, we offer the most Advanced Placement classes in Ionia County, dual enrollment opportunities, career/technical classes, and many co-curricular enrichment classes. We also offer many extracurricular activities including drama, band, FFA, and one of the few competitive robotic programs in the area. Our full array of athletic teams provide opportunities at the junior varsity, and varsity levels.

We are also the right size because we are small enough to offer a these opportunities to all students in a friendly atmosphere where teachers, support staff, and administrators get to know students and families on a personal level. With an average of 150 students in a graduating class, one does not have to be a superstar or a specialist to become a member of one of our clubs or sports teams.

We are the right choice because our academic programs achieve excellence.  Our standardized test scores reflect an upward trend in achievement that has been developing for a number of years in Belding Area Schools. At BHS, we have adopted and implemented the state merit curriculum and are aligned with the Common Core State Standards.  This ensures that Belding High School students receive curriculum at the same level of rigor as students in schools and districts across the entire state. Our goal is to have each student ready to take the next step to college or career readiness.

We are also the right choice because our extracurricular opportunities are fantastic. For example, our band has competed in state marching finals at Ford Field for the past fifteen years and our robotics team is a regular qualifier at the national and world championships. Our drama program continues to impress the entire community with its outstanding musical and dramatic performances. Many of our sports teams and individual athletes have advanced to state or regional playoffs and have been recognized by the local press. Each year, several of our athletes go on to play college sports.
